Frequently asked questions.
Is LumaSync Cloud free?
Yes. The Free plan gives you 2 GB of storage and the full app, free. Paid plans with more storage are announced above and switch on soon — billing isn't live yet.
When can I download the app?
Very soon. LumaSync Cloud is one unified app for Android and iOS, opening first on Google Play and the App Store. This page will list every download the moment they are live.
Who can read my files?
Only you, after you sign in. Your files are encrypted in transit and at rest, and they stay private until you share them. A share link lets anyone who has it open the file until you revoke it or it expires.
How do I back up my photos?
Turn on Back up photos & videos in Settings › Photos, or flip the switch at the top of the Gallery tab. New photos and videos then copy to a Camera uploads folder on your drive while the app is open.
Will backing up use my mobile data?
No. Automatic backups wait for Wi-Fi, so they never touch your data plan. On mobile data, Settings › Photos offers Back up now to send them right away instead.
What happens if I forget my password?
Tap Forgot password on the sign-in screen and we'll email you a link to choose a new one. Your files are waiting for you as soon as you're back in.
How do I share a file?
Open a file, tap Share and create a link. Anyone with the link can open the file until you revoke it or it expires. Add someone as Editor from the same sheet to let them make changes or comment.
How does the app lock work?
A PIN, password or your device unlock guards the app on top of your account. Set it under Settings › Security and choose how soon it locks when you leave.
What counts toward my storage?
Everything you store — including items in Trash until you empty it.
Where do my backed-up photos go?
Into a Camera uploads folder on your drive — open it from Files like any other folder. A photo already saved wears a small tick in the Gallery tab, so you never back the same one up twice.
Can I use LumaSync offline?
Anything marked Available offline opens with no signal, and edits you make are queued and pushed the next time you have a connection. Files that were never downloaded need signal to open.
Why won't a video play in the app?
The built-in player handles the common formats up to 1080p. A video in a format it can't read, or one shot above 1080p, shows a Download button instead so you can open it in another app.
How long does trash keep things?
Thirty days, then it clears itself. Restore anything from trash before then and it lands back where it was.
I lost a device — what now?
Open Security › Active sessions and end that session, or sign out everywhere else. It signs that device out of your account, so it needs your password before it can get back in.
Why can a viewer not comment?
Viewers only read. Give someone Editor from the share sheet and the comment box appears for them. If you were shared something as a viewer, tap the file to ask the owner for Editor access.
Can I change how the app looks?
Settings › Appearance switches between light, dark or matching your system, and sets the accent colour. Changes apply straight away.
How do I download my files?
Open a file and choose Download for the original, or Download as ZIP to get it zipped. Selecting a folder or several files at once always downloads as a single ZIP, and asks before it starts.
Which platforms are supported?
One unified app for both devices — Android, and iOS (iPhone and iPad) — built from a single codebase, so your drive, backup and account stay the same everywhere. A Windows app is on the roadmap after mobile.
